When Sammy Davis, Jr. converted back in 1954, the general response was "You have two strikes against you now". "…Jews have been oppressed for more than 5,000 years…Quit while you're ahead."
So Davis was Black and Jewish, not a good combination back in the day, considering how white America felt about Blacks and Jews at the time.
And now the first African American female rabbi, Alysa Stanton in Ohio has me thinking…
The odd thing about all of this is that with the video I posted this weekend (more-to-achieve), I wonder how young Jewish Americans are feeling about this. That video was disturbing, and beyond disturbing in terms of the racism that was showcased. So I wonder….
